Done with the Dex!

Its Sunday and we are done with this round of Dexamethazone. Yeah for us! Grant actually did a lot better this time as we gave the Dex in combination with some other meds to try to keep his moods under control! We are hopeful that this combination will continue to work for Grant and that we have overcome the curse of the Dex!!!

Grant will try school again tomorrow. His ANC was up to 1.2 last week, so he should be OK to be around other kids! We are nervous about cold and flu season, but what do you do?

We are all looking for to a quiet week. Jacob has a dentist appointment in Greenville on Thursday, but that is our only scheduled Dr. appointment. I think that we may set a new record - only one visit for a whole week! What will I do with my time? Maybe 20 loads of laundry.......

So, goodnight to one and all. I will post again soon!

Emily and family - Thanks for the comment on Isaiah's blog. We just read through some of your journey...much of which sounds familiar. Grant is a beautiful kid. I'm so glad to hear he's doing well. So...are you guys done with steroids all together? We're still taking DEX 5 days/month (and are scheduled to for the duration of treatment). We're cheering Grant on! Stay strong and courageous.

Yes, we still are doing Dex monthly for 5 days! We are just happy that this 5 days is over! Grant has historically had a VERY negative reaction to the Dex, crying for basically the duration of the 5 day cycle. So, this round his Dr added some different daily meds to take with the Dex. We had a much better go if it! So, we are thankful for this blessing, and now look forward to the next almost three years with much more peace in our hearts!

We are sooo glad that Grant is doing well. We are also excited to hear of the better "dex days". We hope they will continue. Know that Grant and your entire family continues to be in our prayers.

I am thrilled for you Emily that you just have one road trip this week. Nice break! When you get caught up on your laundry... could you make a pit-stop in Kinston and help me with mine? (LOL!)
